Srirangam: 27, March: AIADMK Supremo Ms.J Jayalalithaa in the Tamilnadu Assembly Election 2011 is contesting from Srirangam Assembly constituency. During her election campaign in Srirangam constituency against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)’s candidate, the youngest (30) Annad, Ms. Jayalalalithaa listed the freebies promised by the party manifesto in wayside meetings in the neighborhood of  SEVAI centre, and assured that her party will  supply of 20 kg of rice to all ration card holders replacing the existing Re.1 a kg rice scheme, free laptops for students, three cent land for the homeless and four grams of gold along with marriage assistance for women. She assured farmers an increase in the minimum support price for sugarcane to Rs.2,500 a tonne.She promised steps to set up a jasmine perfume extraction plant, a popular demand among jasmine growers in Andanallur villages in Tiruchi district.T.Vanitha,the SHG Federation Organiser of SEVAI opined that providing marketing support by setting up by ‘Jasmine perfume extraction plant in Posampatty’ for is a boon for Women Self Help group members of Jasmine cultivators of this region and also appreciated the announcement of Fair Price for Sugar cane growers of this region. Vanitha expressed her view ‘Ms.J Jayalalithaa would have given assurance about a long term demand of the area of establishment of Nendran Chipps production factory which will generate employment and also marketing for Nendran Bananas grown in this area, the self help groups’ federation leader also said that Ms.J Jayalalitha should take time to listen to the rural common voters grievances and address to their needs if voted to power. The elite voters of Srirangam are only 20%,the 80% voters live in remote rural Andanallur, Manikandam and Manappari Bolcks where the needs are very different than Srirangam voters’ and it is important for AIADMK candidate, AIADMK Supremo Ms.J Jayalalithaa to know, the prevailing conditions of the rural areas of her constituency’.
