Tamil scholars, writers honoured
 Transport Minister K.N. Nehru honoring Prof.S. Sathiyaseelan, Dr.A.Arivoli and V.Jawahar Arumugam with World Tamil Mamamani, Tamil Mamani and Tamil Mani cash awards.
TIRUCHI: Jan: 17: Transport Minister K.N. Nehru honoured Tamil scholars Prof.S. Sathiyaseelan, Dr.A.Arivoli and Writer.V.Jawahar Arumugam with World Tamil Mamamani, Tamil Mamani and Tamil Mani with citation and cash awards of Rs.15000, Rs.10000 and Rs.5000 respectively for lifetime achievement for their services in Tamil at the Samathuva Pongal and Tamil New Year celebrations held at Kalaiarangam Conference Hall arranged by Muthamil Kalaipanpattu Maiyam and District Welfare Committee.
The Minister, who presided over the function of Samathuva Pongal and Tamil New Year celebrations arranged by Muthamil Kalai Panpattu Maiyam and District Welfare Committee, organized by the District Administration, said that it was Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi who had introduced the Samathuva Pongal festival to bring unity and communal harmony and made the Pongal Day as the Tamil New Year day. Mr Nehru said that it is not the amount of cash attached with the award; but it is the respect of Tamil Society of Trichy shown on these Tamil Scholars.’ He appreciated the Muthamil Kalai Panpattu Maiyam and District Welfare Committee, for selecting the best Tamil books published during the year 2010 and for providing them with cash awards to the writers of these books. He also congratulated the works of the writers in bringing out outstanding books in Tamil.Namakaha Tamil Magazine Editor L.Shanawas Khan, Prof.Maruthamuthu and several other writers were honoured for their outstanding contribution during the year 2010.
Prof.So.Sathiyaseelan on behalf of behalf of all awardees spoke that Minister K.N.Nehru, the Principal donor of Muthamil Kalai Panpattu Maiyam- the Trichy District Welfare Committee always respect the Tamil scholars and experts of  Iyal,Isai and drama. He also thanked Chief Minister M. Karunanithi for his services to Tamil language and its culture and community. He also added that Tamil Culture a”way of life”, as sweetness and light”, as “activity of thought and receptiveness to beauty and humane feeling.” Tamil Culture is nothing else but the Tamil way of life, a pattern gracious living that has been formed during the centuries of Tamil of history. It has been conditioned by the land, the climate, the language, the literature, the religions, the customs, the laws, the food, the games and toys of the Tamil people associated with them and Tamil Culture is a most elusive and at the same time an all embracing term. He also appreciated all the Tamil scholars for bringing about excellent books during the year 2010.
DRO, Raman, Tiruchi Mayor S.Sujatha, Tiruchi Corporation Commissioner T.T.Balsamy, Anbil Periyasamy, MLA-Trichy-1, Deputy Mayor Anbalagan, District Panchayat Chairman, Sangeetha and others were present on this occasion.
